A stylish sedan Possessed of the sort of good looks that are normally reserved for premium German-made sedans, the 508 boasts an impressive front-end. This section of the car is comprised of a thrusting bonnet, which overlooks a stylish chequered grille, which is in turn flanked by inset, streamlined headlights. And the vehicle’s swooping roofline very much evokes the look of a coupé, albeit one with a practical four-door body.
Eye-catching alloys The Peugeot 508 is fitted with 18-inch alloys that sport a stylish two-tone design. Alloy is a very lightweight metal and is a positive boon when it comes to automotive efficiency and performance. Alloy wheels are super-durable, too – and rustproof, unlike their steel counterparts.
LED lighting The 308 comes with an array of LED lights, including headlights, daytime running lights, side indicator lights, and claw-effect taillights. As effective as halogens are, LEDs are better in every conceivable way – they shine more brightly, consume less energy and last a whole lot longer. And it so happens that they look nice, too.
Choose your ideal colour A sophisticated Hurricane Grey solid paint finish is applied at no extra cost. If you wish, you can choose one of a number of optional finishes, such as Pearl White or Nera Black. And if you fancy bringing a bit of extra lustre to the exterior, Ultimate Red and Twilight Blue are just two such options available.
A roomy interior The Peugeot 508 is a decidedly spacious model, particularly when it comes to knee and legroom – and this applies to both front and rear compartments. And when it comes to SW iterations, there’s even more space to manoeuvre. Travellers in the forward compartment are presented with multi-adjustable positions, which make it easy to get comfortable, and there are various useful cubby spaces positioned around the cabin, providing plenty of places to put drinks and belongings. In terms of boot space, FB variants possess a minimum 487-litre capacity, rising to 1,537 litres with rear seats folded. SW models, meanwhile, offer a 530-litre volume, which increases to 1,780 litres when rear seats are flipped.
Climate control Automatic two-zone climate control is standard across the 508 range, as are heated front seats. And aiding the flow of air are power-operated windows, each of which can be opened and closed with the push of a button. The rear windscreen is heated too, which means that the elimination of condensation is a quick and easy process.
Let there be light The 508’s cabin is replete with useful light sources, including an illuminated glove box and vanity mirrors. You’ll also find reading spotlights, a rear light source (with timing function) and rear footwell LED lighting. There are even LED lights affixed to the underside of the roof.
Infotainment A 10-speaker premium audio system includes DAB radio, which offers access to more than 130 stations, each relayed in crystal-clear sound quality. Another standard inclusion is a 10-inch touchscreen – your port of call for a number of 3D navigation features, as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality.
Performance This accomplished sedan is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine, which is paired with eight-speed Efficient Automatic Transmission 8. This turbocharged unit produces 300Nm of torque at 2,750rpm, allowing the vehicle to proceed from a standing stop to 100km/h in 8.1 seconds. In terms of fuel economy, it manages a combined 6.3 litres per 100 km, and produces CO2 emissions from 142g/km.
Super-safe Following a series of painstaking ANCAP crash-tests, the Peugeot 508 emerged with a maximum five-star rating. This was in recognition of the vehicle’s overall robustness – and the slew of passive safety features and driver aids that are included as standard.
Kid-friendly As well as a pair of ISOFIX child-seat fixtures, which are located on the rear outer seats, the 508 is fitted with electronically controlled rear door and window locks. So no matter how ingenious your child might be, they won’t be able to open the doors or windows without adult intervention.
Safety Plus All 508 variants feature a standard-issue Safety Plus Pack, which comes with myriad driver aids, such as Active Blind Spot Detection. This intelligent technology uses side-mounted sensors to detect movement on the sedan’s flanks, alerting the driver to the presence of encroaching vehicles.
