Hey, handsome! The 3008 has considerable kerb appeal. This SUV is boldly styled, ruggedly good-looking and possessed of a super-assertive stance. Viewed from any angle the vehicle impresses, but looked at from the side, it’s easy to appreciate a rising window line and slicked-back roofline that provides the car with its dynamic silhouette. The 3008’s purposeful demeanour is reinforced by a conspicuous radiator grille, which is flanked by sleek headlights. And a muscular frame and elevated ride height only serve to augment the vehicle’s impactful presence.
The wheel deal Whichever trim you opt for, you can be sure the 3008 will ride on stylish and lightweight yet hard-wearing alloys. Allure grades are fitted with 18-inch two-tone-finished wheels, while GT Line and GT trims boast 19-inch variations.
The sky’s the limit All models are crowned with neat-looking aluminium roof bars so if there isn’t quite enough room in the 3008’s voluminous boot, there should be more than enough space up top. Whether you’re heading out on a camping trip or making a beeline to the beach, you’ll easily be able to transport tents, bikes and more.
Perfectly practical So what makes the Peugeot 3008 such a desirable family car? Well, there are lots of reasons, but let’s focus on its five-door body. Whether you’ve got kids onboard, or grandma and grandpa with you, they’ll find that accessing the rear compartment is always straightforward.
A roomy cabin Inside, there’s plenty of room in the back for a pair of full-sized adults, or a trio of younger travellers, meaning as the kids grow up you’ll have ample space to accommodate them. There’s lots of headroom in both compartments, and legroom is generous upfront and in the outer rear positions. This SUV possesses a class-competitive 520-litre boot space too – and with 60/40 split-folding rear seats flipped, cargo capacity rises to a considerable 1,482 litres.
Perks of being a driver (and front passenger) The driver and front passenger are provided with adjustable seating, while the driver’s seat also offers lumbar support. If you upgrade to the GT trim, you’ll discover that these positions are heated, and the driver is treated to a power-operated, eight-way-adjustable seat that also offers multi-point massage functionality.
Windows to the world Whilst the 3008 GT Line and 3008 GT feature a panoramic sunroof, all models feature rear side and tailgate privacy glass, which not only keep out prying eyes, they also help to minimise the glare of intense sunshine. And each window is power-operated, allowing occupants to adapt to changing temperatures with just a push of a button.
Infotainment highlights Irrespective of which trim level you choose, it’ll feature a minimum four-speaker stereo system that includes DAB radio and AUX and USB inputs. Bluetooth connectivity is featured too, enabling audio streaming and hands-free telephony. And via the car’s eight-inch touchscreen and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay integration, you can safely access your smartphone.
Performance Allure and GT Line trims are supplied with a 1.6-litre petrol engine, which is paired with six-speed automatic transmission. This delivers approximately 7.0 litres per 100 km and produces CO2 emissions from 156g/km. GT grades, meanwhile, are powered by a 2.0-litre diesel unit, which comes with eight-speed automatic transmission. This variant returns around 5.0 litres per 100 km, while producing emissions as low as 130g/km. What’s more, GT trims are a little quicker off the mark than their Allure/GT Line counterparts, proceeding from 0 to 100km/h in approximately nine seconds.
ANCAP-approved It’s fitting that this fine family car comes with a maximum five-star ANCAP rating. That’s because it features a panoply of passive safety features – multiple airbags, seatbelt reminders, ISOFIX child-seat attachments, etc. – as well as driver aids such as Anti-lock Braking System and Electronic Stability Programme.
Autonomous Emergency Braking An essential piece of safety tech, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) uses sensors to scan the road ahead. If an object is deemed to be too close to the front of the 3008, AEB automatically initiates full braking pressure.
Lane-departure Warning Another very useful, standard-issue technology is Lane Departure Warning, which constantly analyses the vehicle’s progress, alerting the driver should the 3008 begin to stray out of lane. It activates whenever the car crosses a longitudinal lane marking, automatically initiating an audible sound and flashing indicator light.
